Spring/Summer 2012

Inside Crochet Spring/Summer 2012 Submission Call Out

From issue 24 onwards, Claire Montgomerie will be on maternity leave. Whilst Charles Voth will be performing the role of an interim editor, I will be your point of contact for submissions and queries – adrian@kalmedia.co.uk

Please remember:

We only publish original patterns (and the occasional book excerpt), so anything you do for us needs to be original.

Spring/Summer 2012

We’re seeking submissions for spring/summer – from early spring wear, right through to summertime.

While we are a monthly publication and as such have a rolling programme of deadlines we are hoping to have as many of the samples for spring and early summer in the office by the end of the year.  We will be happy to consider your proposal whenever you send it in but the sooner you submit your ideas to us the sooner we can arrange yarn support and book your design into an issue.  We will be happy to consider submissions which fall outside the themes outlined below.

Please consider the themes and ideas, then either use alone or in combination with another, alternatively you can ignore them and work with your own interpretations. Once you have your idea, fire off a sketch and a swatch (doesn’t need to be in the final yarn choice, just to show stitch patterns if necessary), and email to adrian@kalmedia.co.uk

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Urban Chic

Strong metallic shades and catwalk-inspired sleek edginess.

Vintage Style

30s/40s style designs, small neat cardigans, twinsets etc.

Brighten up this spring with some bold and zesty colour! Use toning shades of a similar hue, or audacious, clashing combinations.

Accessories/hats/homewares/novelties

Baby/Kids/Teen

Up-to-the-minute teenage designs, sweet sets for babies and garments with a difference.

Features

We’re always looking for fascinating technical features either focusing upon design techniques or methods, or anything at all crochet related. The more creative, the better. Make sure to contact us with ideas!

Please note:

The publication rights will return to you 6 months after publication. We will provide you with a tech edited, and up to date in terms of errata, PDF of your pattern after six months which you are welcome to use to sell/giveaway as you choose. Copyright remains yours throughout.

Samples are not returned to designers except by prior agreement and where the designer has sourced yarn. Costs for postage of samples to us are borne by the designer, and we strongly recommend using a tracked/signed for service, so please keep that in mind when agreeing a fee, should your submission be accepted.

It is important to note the due date for your submission, we will need both the sample and the written pattern in by this date.  Please do not agree to a date if you think you may have problems meeting it, even a delay of receiving your sample of just 3-4 days can make a huge difference to our production schedule so if you want to negotiate on deadlines please do so before a purchase order is issued.

We look forward to hearing back from you!

Adrian
